LOTS ON OVER THE LAST THREE WEEKS
There are now only three weeks left before the end of term two-the term finishes on Friday July 4.
Next week the school will be holding an art week. Children will be working every afternoon in small groups, doing art activities related to the Medieval Unit they have been doing. Parents are very welcome to call in, see what the children are doing and lend a hand. The activities children are doing include making shields, armour, banners, jewellery, musical instruments tunics, stained glass windows and weaving,
All children will be participating in a rugby skills programme provided by Wellington Rugby and run by Manu Flutey. Rooms 1,2 and 3 will be doing this the next two Tuesday mornings and rooms 7 and 8 on the next two Thursday mornings. All children will need to bring PE gear for this
Parent Interviews will be held on Monday June 23 and Tuesday June 24, starting at 2.30. School will close at 2.10 on both these days. The homework centre will be closed on Tuesday June 24, due to parent interviews. Could parents please fill out the form attached to the newsletter and send it back to school as soon as possible. We would like to see at least one parent from every family.
On Wednesday July 2, the school will be holding a Medieval Day to celebrate all the work that has been completed this term. The school will be open for parents and visitors to call in and see what the children have been doing. We would like children to dress in Medieval clothing eg, a hat, long dress, a waistcoat etc. Between 11.30 and 12.30 the children will be involved in playing games that they used to play in the middle ages. They will eat lunch together in their house groups and put on a folk dancing display at 1.30 in the afternoon.

The school does not take responsibility for games, toys and cards brought from home. They often get damaged, lost or stolen and cause arguments. It would be nice to think that stealing would not be an issue in a Catholic school. We certainly teach that it is wrong. However the reality is that the temptation is sometimes too much for some children. It really is best not to bring these things to school.
Some children are arriving with pies, chips and chicken from the new bakery for breakfast. This is not a healthy way to start the day. Also a lot of children are having pies and fizzy drinks dropped into them for their lunch on a regular basis. This is OK as a treat but not 2 or 3 times a week. Sandwiches, fruit, yoghurt, raisins, muesli bars etc are still the best sorts of food your child can have for their lunch.
