TERM 3 NEWSLETTER Friday July 25, 2003
EXCELLENT ACHIEVEMENT IN MATHS-At the beginning of the year all children
in year two and up sat a basic facts test. During the last week of term
two they sat the same test again and the results are amazing. 71% of children
moved up a whole level (eg from emerging to achieved), 12 children moved
up two levels and the remaining children stayed where they were. No one
went backwards. The graph below shows how the majority of children have
moved from the attempted and emerging levels to the achieved and achieved
with excellence levels. Well done teachers and students.
PACIFIC ISLAND FAMILY NIGHT-We are holding a Pacific Island Family evening
on Thursday August 21, starting at 5.30. Please mark this on your calendar
now. There will be more information about this later.
SCHOOL PRODUCTION-The school production The Last Kiwi is on at the end
of this term. All the children are going to be involved with this.
SCHOOL PHOTOS-Attached to the newsletter is a pre paid envelope for school
photos. These are being done on Wednesday August 6, starting at 9am. The
money needs to be in before the day as they will not take individual or
family photos without pre payment
LOST PROPERTY-We now have a container for lost property. All lost property
will be collected up every Friday afternoon and put in the container.
It will be displayed on a Wednesday at assembly. Parents are welcome to
come and look for their children's lost clothing. It is kept by the road
patrol cones at the beginning of the corridor.
BAPTISM-On Wednesday August 6, the school will be celebrating the Sacrament
of Baptism with nine of our children who are being welcomed into the Catholic
Faith. It is not too late if you would like your child to be part of this
group.
FAREWELL to the three Tevaga sisters who are leaving us today for the
warmer climate of Brisbane. Suzannah, Tafale and Sefine we wish you all
the best on your exciting adventure. You will be missed by us all.
WELCOME to Tetoa Lino (room 8) and Chris Tago (room 7) who started at
the beginning of the week
CONGRATULATIONS to the year 6 flipper ball team who played like champions
at yesterdays tournament.
REMINDERS
Please do not drive or park on the grass strip down the side of the driveway.
The grass there is being destroyed and a huge mud puddle is forming.
There have also been complaints from Barnados about people parking in
front of their driveway blocking their entrance way.
Taita College enrolment forms must be back by August 4. If you need an
