Term 1, Issue 3
CONGRATULATIONS-To our new head boy and girl, who were selected
at the end of last week. Our head boy this year is Aviata Alofaga
and the deputy head is John Mar. Head girl is Luhia Wright and deputy
Kafa Nehoa These four students will play an important role in the
school, welcoming and thanking visitors, representing student views,
developing their leadership skills and being positive role models.
CAPITAL E TRIP-On Friday 11, rooms 1 and 2 are going to Capital
E for a day of performances from a variety of countries. The bus
leaves the school at 9am (so children will need to be here on time)
and will be back at school by 2.30.The following week the junior
school (rooms 3,7,8 and 12 will be going on the same trip-though
the shows they are seeing are for their age group). We are very
fortunate that the cost of the buses has been covered by a charitable
fund and the entrance cost reduced to $6 per child. We are unable
to give family discounts but believe that the children are getting
a very good deal with this. Could money please be sent in before
next Friday (for the senior children) .
SWIMMING SPORTS-These will take place at the Naenae Pool on Monday
morning (March 7) from 9.30 to 11.30. The junior children will have
theirs in the learners pool and the seniors in the big pool. Do
come along and support your child .Could we please have the last
of the swimming money in please
WORKING BEE-On Saturday March 19 the school will be having a working
bee from 9 until 12. The jobs being done include removing tyres
that are unsafe from the playground, fixing up the parking area
(this may require lifting the existing webbing and scraping out
the dirt), putting up the new school sign and a general tidy up
of our playground equipment. A further reminder will be sent out
closer to the time-but please keep this morning free to help..
PARENTING COURSES-Attached is a flyer for the parent course next
week. These courses often offer simple, practical solutions to difficult
parenting issues. I would strongly urge people to attend this. If
people are keen they can contact the school, if they wish, as we
already have a group of parents interested and everyone might like
to go together..
PARENT MEETING-Thank you to the 16 parents who attended this meeting
on Monday night. There may not have been many there but it was a
good meeting. Ideas for community input into the school's annual
plan were put forward and will be developed over the next few weeks.
.A copy of this will be sent home when it is completed
A big hi to Stella Causing and Lina Tafili who have started in
room 8
Congratulations to Sina Imo whose name was pulled out of the last
newsletter draw. .
Lollies and gum-too many children are bringing lollies and chewing
gum to school. These are NOT ALLOWED in the school.
Buttons-The buttons have now arrived and can be bought from Mrs
Coffey for the price of 50cents each.
Shoes - There are still children wearing jandals to school. These
are not suitable for school. I will be contacting the parents of
children who continue to wear jandals to school next week.
Donuts-The school will be selling donuts as part of fundraising
later in the term. We have been guaranteed that the quality of the
donuts will be better than last time. Order forms will go out on
Thursday 24 March-so that you can sell them over Easter to family
and friends, and will need to be returned to the school with the
money by Friday April 8th. The donuts will be delivered to the school
on Wednesday April 13
Board of Trustees Meeting-to be held at 7pm at the school, on March
15.
God Bless You All
Linda
