CHRISTIAN CULTURAL COMMITMENT

Friday August 12, 2005 Term 3 Issue 2

PARENT MEETING WELL SUPPORTED

Thank you to all the parents who attended the parent meeting on Tuesday night. The Hearing and Vision Specialist, Jackie Jennings talked about the testing she does with the children at school and the importance of following up any problems she finds. Karis, the audiologist who works in the mobile ear clinic explained the free service she provides every Wednesday at Taita and Pomare and invited parents to bring their children to the van if they have any concerns. The meeting was very well attended by 23 parents. Congratulations to the Ene family, whose name was drawn out for the petrol vouchers.

GOOD SLEEPING HABITS IMPORTANT
This term is going to be a busy one with the school production happening in week 8 and a number of sporting events for the older children during the term. Many of the children will find their involvement in the production tiring as they will be required to do quite a bit of new learning and will be asked to do a lot of listening, thinking, rehearsing etc. Please ensure that your child gets plenty of sleep. Some children are not getting the sleep they need and are grizzly, tired and unable to learn by morning tea time. When children get overtired their behaviour and ability to concentrate is reduced and they waste valuable learning time, both for themselves and others. If you have concerns about your child's sleeping habits or bedtime routines, you can get support and advice from the public health nurse.

WELCOME
A warm welcome to our three new students who have started in the in the junior school. Two of our young people, Erica and Dylan Tavite, have actually been to our school before - it is lovely to have you both back again.

PARENT SURVEY
Thank you to those who have returned the Pastoral Care survey. It is important that parents give us some feedback on how they view the pastoral care aspect of the school. If you have not returned your questionnaire but would like to contribute your views you can get a copy of the survey from the office.
