COMMUNITY SUPPORT-Thank you to all the parents who came along to
support the school picnic and enjoy themselves with their children.
It certainly had the feel of a large family gathering on Wednesday
The support that the parent community gives the school is invaluable.
At the parent meeting a few weeks ago ideas were put forward to
be included in the annual plan. This has been approved by the Board
and a copy of this is attached to the newsletter. This is only one
part of the annual plan-similar plans are developed in property,
personnel, health and safety, Catholic Character etc. When the whole
plan is complete it will be available for parents to look at. Comments
from the very positive ERO report last year reflect the wonderful
level of support St Michael's School has from its community:
"..The school has an inclusive multicultural environment. Another
feature of the school culture is the high level of community commitment,
strong sense of belonging and being valued for who you are. The
school is responsive to parents' aspirations for their children's
education and this is reciprocated by parental support"
WORKING BEE-Don't forget this Saturday morning from 9 to 12 there
will be a working bee at the school to complete a number of jobs
(the list was sent home earlier in the week). If you have tools
that are appropriate or can bring your trailer for the morning it
would be most appreciated. There will be a sausage sizzle at the
end of the morning. .
TOUCH COMPETITION-The finals of the local touch competition were
held last evening and the St Michael's year 5/6 team won their division
From left to right: Junior, Afemai, Viola, Eden, April, Agnes and
Feleti. Absent: Ioane and Vini
A big thanks to Peata Schaafhausen, Fred Fa'atui and Ene Alataua
for coaching and managing the teams
EASTER LITURGY-Over the last few weeks our children have been rehearsing
an Easter Liturgy which they will be performing on Wednesday March
23. There will be two performances at the Taita Community Hall,
one at 1.45 in the afternoon for children from St Brendan's, St
Bernadette's and Taita Central and then again at 7pm for our families.
Every child plays an important part whether they are singing, acting
or playing a musical instrument and we need all our children to
be at the night performance. A note will go out next Monday with
times and places etc.
EASTER-School closes at the normal time of 2.45 next Thursday 24,
(NO HOMEWORK CENTRE) and opens again on Wednesday March 30 at 8.45.
A big hi to Joseph Lolomatauama who is a year 7 in room 1.
Congratulations to Elenisi Leifi whose name was pulled out of the
last newsletter draw. .
Garage Sale- This Sunday at St Bernadettes School in Naenae after
the 9.30 Mass. All proceeds will be going to Tokelau to help those
who have lost everything in Cyclone Percy.
Have your say-The Hutt City Council wants to update information
about the needs within its community so that they can develop a
plan to meet those needs. The meetings in Taita are at the Taita
Community Hall on Thursday April 14 from 7 to 9.30pm and on Tuesday
April 19 from 10am to 12.30pm.
Donuts-The school will be selling donuts as part of fundraising
later in the term. We have been guaranteed that the quality of the
donuts will be better than last time. Order forms will go out on
Thursday 24 March-so that you can sell them over Easter and will
need to be returned to the school with the money by Friday April
8th. The donuts will be delivered to the school on Wednesday April
13
Books-please look after reading and library books. Some are being
returned to school very damaged.
God Bless You All
Linda
I have read and understood the newsletter dated March 18, 2005
